I think these are great questions, I never thought about asking how the poem itself was written, as in the punctuation and if the writer ever talked about himself. I would certainly like to hear the answers!
ReplyDeleteDid the sudden change from the lover addressing the beloved -- in his series of metaphors for what she is or what she is not -- to the lover addressing himself -- in his series of figurations for what he is and what he is not -- strike you as ironic?
